Staff information

Amy Goldberg

Amy has been teaching dance for over 23 years. In those years, she has coached such college dance teams as Penn State Altoona, Sacred Heart University, and the University of Cincinnati. Amy has also coached and choreographed for numerous high schools as well as for the Cincinnati Bengals Cheerleaders. She teaches all levels of recreational dance as well as her competitive dance teams.

Over the past 12 years her all-star competitive teams have won numerous National titles in Pom, Hip Hop and Jazz. On the Worlds level, she has teams represented in the Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop and Open International Hip Hop divisions. Highlights for the team would be a Bronze Sr. Pom finish in 2009, a Bronze Sr. Co-ed Hip Hop finish in 2010, a Gold in the Sr. Co-ed Hip Hop division in 2011, and a Silver in the Senior Hip Hop division in 2012. She currently serves on the USASF National Advisory Board, the USASF Dance Rules Committee, & the Dance Coach Association Board of Directors.

Becca Mastin

Becca has over 20 years of dance trainingBecca has over 20 years of training in many different dance disciplines. Her primary focus of study and greatest love has always been ballet. Becca danced primarily under Christine Hennessey, co-founder of Festival Ballet of Rhode Island, and Herci Marsden, co-founder of the State Ballet of Rhode Island. She, also, competed in both solo and team routines around the country in other dance styles. Becca has experience teaching a variety of dance styles and has, also, acted as a dance adjudicator for event companies and organizations in the region.  Becca has been a member of the SPC family since 2006 and is proud to have participated in the coaching of many of our award winning Pom, Jazz and Hip Hop routines across all age divisions including our Worlds level teams.  She currently acts as a technique instructor and coach to our all star competition teams.

Charlotte Thurnauer

Charlotte is from Liberty Township, Ohio and has been part of the Star family since 2003.  After a start in recreational classes at SPC, she began competing in fifth grade and continued through her senior year of high school.  During her eight years competing, she was a member of numerous national championship teams.  She competed at The Dance Worlds for four years where she received a Silver Medal in the 2009 Senior Pom division, a Bronze Medal in the 2010 Senior Hip Hop division, and a Gold Medal in the 2011 Senior Hip Hop division to finish off her competitive career. 

Charlotte received her Bachelors of Science in Education - Kinesiology degree from University of Tennessee in December 2014.  She is currently working towards her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from The Ohio State University in hopes of incorporating her love of dance with PT.  When she's not studying, she may be found working behind the scenes on administration for SPC, behind the front desk or assisting competitive teams.

Jill Baechle

Jill has over 26 years of training in various styles of dance. She is a former NDA Instructor, Director of Cincinnati Stuff Dancers, Choreographer and Cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals and coach of an award winning high school dance team. Jill has also choreographed for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Cotton Bowl Parade, Aloha Bowl and the WWF Nitro Girl Search. Jill has had several articles published in various dance magazines and has contributed articles in Dance Directors' Workbooks. She has over 16 years of judging experience and worked with over 9 dance companies, judging countless competitions, including many high school and collegiate National Championships, as well as the inaugural Dance Worlds Championship.

Kathy McCormick

Kathy Kathy is a graduate of Texas Christian University where she double majored in Ballet and Journalism and captained the TCU Showgirls dance team. She has worked with MA Dance for over 30 years where she has served as head instructor, clinician, director’s workshop administrator and head judge. Kathy developed, wrote the curriculum, and was the principal instructor in a best-selling DVD technique series for Spirit Direct. She has choreographed and served as director for the nationally televised Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia and assisted on many others including the Florida Citrus Bowl and Bluebonnet Bowl. Kathy is a nationally recognized dance clinician and adjudicator who has judged major competitions across the nation as well as overseas. She has choreographed and directed programs for the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Cavaliers and Major League Soccer’s Dallas Burn.  She was also a casting choreographer for the Walt Disney World Audition Tour. Kathy has several recent articles featured in Inside Dance Magazine. She is the former coach of the State and National Champion Mason High School Dance Team. She also serves on the USASF Education Committee and is a USASF Mentor.

Kierstin Payne

Kierstin has been teaching dance for over 25 years, including 11 years of coaching award winning dance teams at High School, Studio, and All Star competitions. She was awarded a full scholarship as a dance major at LCC, as well as being accepted into their ground breaking Studio Dance Program.

She is a Certified Dance Judge through UPA & Safety Judge Certified through the USASF Dance. She has also served on various USASF Dance committees as they've expanded their focus on dance. Through her role on the USASF Dance Leadership team she managed the social and online media at the 2011 & 2012 Dance Worlds. Kierstin is also the co-founder of the Dance Coach Association.

Kristen Tell








Leah Strunk

Leah has exceptional training in numerous dance techniques and has been teaching all levels of recreational dance for over 10 years. Her experience includes coaching and dance program coordination within the Northwest Local and Fairfield City School Districts, serving as the assistant coach at Northwest High School, working as the Co-Director of the Dance Program at Fairfield East Elementary, and also leading as the Bevis Elementary Dance Program Director for 5 years. Leah has also performed as a dance adjudicator at several regional and national competitions over the last 10 years, for companies including JamFest Cheer and Dance Events, Cheer Sport, and Marching Auxiliaries. She also had the extraordinary opportunity to dance as a member of SPC’s Open Hip-Hop team, which qualified and placed 6th in the 2010-2011 USASF Dance Worlds competition. This is Leah’s 5th year teaching at SPC, having coached the Junior Small Hip-Hop team and Youth Variety team as well as recreational classes in years past.

Megan Harmon

Megan has been a part of the Star Performance Centre family for over 15 years. She began dancing at Star Performance Centre in second grade, and continued to compete on the elite teams through her senior year in high school. She danced on SPC's 2009 Dance Worlds bronze medalist Senior Pom team and was a member of SPC's 2010 Dance Worlds bronze medalist Senior Coed Hip Hop team.

Megan graduated from Miami University in May of 2014. She performed in the 2011 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade as a feature twirler for the Miami University Marching Band. Megan was a baton twirling and dance instructor for Fred J. Miller Clinics for five summers. Currently, Megan teaches recreational dance classes at all age levels, and coaching SPC's competitive teams.



NickiNicki is from Mason, Ohio and started dancing at SPC in 2008. She competed with Star up until her senior year in 2013 and received a Silver Medal in the 2012 Senior Hip Hop category. She is now an alumni of the University of Kentucky where was a 4 year member of the award winning University of Kentucky Dance Team. At UDA College Nationals, she received 5th place in both 2014 and 2016 and a 3rd place Bronze medal in 2015. Nicki has judged for various competitions in Kentucky and choreographed for studios and schools around the Lexington area. We are honored to have Nicki teaching at SPC when her schedule allows.

Scott Goldberg

Scott joined the Star Performance Centre Staff as Chief Financial Officer in 2013.

Prior to joining the team he held multiple fundraising positions at The University of Cincinnati, Miami University, University of Southern Mississippi, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and Saint Francis (PA) Univeristy.  Most recently Scott held positions in the field of sports marketing and athletic administration with various multimedia rights companies including The Carlyle Pegasus Group, International Sports Properties, IMG and Learfield Communications.

Scott has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Francis (PA) University.  He enjoys traveling and most importantly spending time with his family.

Shari Murphy

Shari has been part of the SPC family for over 16 years. She began taking baton and dance lessons here at the age of 10 after being a gymnast for 8 years. She was one of the 8 members of our very first competitive dance team and also competed on our cheer team her senior year in high school.

Once she graduated in 2004, she started teaching both cheer and dance here at the studio and also became a staff member for the National Cheerleaders Association. Currently she teaches and coaches our recreation and competitive teams and competes as a member of our open dance team.

Toria Douglas

Toria is from Cincinnati, Ohio where she gained 20+ years of dance training. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors in Communication and Marketing. Toria was a four year member and two year captain for the University of Cincinnati Dance team winning 2 National titles in Hip Hop. As a member of Team USA she received four gold medals 2013-2015 and another as a coach in 2016. She now lives in Baltimore, Maryland as a coach for River Hill High School Poms & travels to do choreography for over 15 different college & high school teams! Toria has such a passion for dance & loves teach dancers of all ages. 

Tyler Scott

Tyler started dancing for Star in 2009. Through the years he has been a part of many qualifying worlds teams. Including the 2011 World Champions in the senior coed division. Though he is still up and coming,  he has choreographed high school pep rallies as well as all star competition team choreography.

Tyler now lives in LA and is a member of the world-renowned dance crew GRV. He teaches dance at various local studios, and continues to guest teach, edit music, and contribute to the choreography of our competitive dance teams.
